According to a purported report we sighted on GhanaWeb, The Ghana Immigration Service has arrested a Belgian national who was living in Ghana for reportedly using a fraudulent document to obtain a resident permit.
According to the news website, a Belgian national living in Ghana has been arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service for allegedly obtaining a resident permit using a fraudulent document. The arrest took place during an investigation into her immigration status within the country.
The Immigration Service became aware of her activities, including her role as the spokesperson for “The New Force,” through social media.
The arrest occurred after Abbiusi was invited by the Head of the National Enforcement Section at the Immigration Headquarters to discuss her immigration status.
This invitation was prompted by concerns surrounding her activities and role as the spokesperson for “The New Force,” which were brought to the attention the Immigration Service through social media.
After conducting an investigation, it was uncovered that Abbi initially traveled to Ghana on September 4, 2017, via the Kotoka International Airport. She had been visiting frequently until 2018 when she declared herself as a student residing at the Ghana Christian University College.
Upon conducting a meticulous investigation, the college discovered that Abbiusi had never been registered as a student. Additionally, the authenticity of the documents she submitted in support of her residence permit application was proven to be fraudulent.
Currently, Abbiusi is being charged with immigration offenses and has been brought before the court to be remanded into Immigration custody.
The recent arrest of Abbiusi has sparked a lot conversations on social media. Many Ghanaians believe that this arrest could be a result of foul play, with some speculating that the state is trying to silence the growing political movement before it becomes more influential.
In a recent video, The New Force group shared their intentions to unveil their strategy for the upcoming election. The video focused on the difficulties experienced by the people of Ghana during the Akufo-Addo administration and questioned the government’s effectiveness in addressing citizens’ issues, drawing attention to recent demonstrations.
The political movement, fueled by social media and recognized for its ‘The Man in a Mask’ campaign, declared its intention to reveal the person behind the mask and clearly state its aims and objectives in the near future.
The statement shared on social media by The New Force expressed gratitude for the increasing excitement surrounding #TheNewForce and the public’s eagerness to be involved in a fresh perspective for transformation.
The movement appreciated the positive response it received and hinted at soon revealing the mask, as well as sharing thoughtfully planned policy objectives and goals. The statement made it clear that, despite rumors, no policies had been revealed yet and the identity of the Man in the Mask was still unknown.
Meanwhile, there are widespread speculations that Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, the founder and CEO of Wonda World Estates and Petronia City Development Company Limited, is allegedly the force behind The New Force. A post by Bright Simons, a vice president of IMANI Africa, supported these speculations, identifying Cheddar as the bankroller of The New Force Movement. Simons’s post on November 28, 2023, pointed to Cheddar’s association with tamed, neutered tigers and referenced a BBC story about his defiance of a court order to remove these pet tigers from his home.
