Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino won the first league title of his career after his team drew against 10-man Lens at the Parc des Princes
Paris Saint-Germain have clinched the Ligue 1 title with four games to spare after a 1-1 draw with Lens at the Parc des Princes.
It was a first league title for Mauricio Pochettino, after last season’s second place finish behind Lille. However, with pressure mounting on the Argentine and coming to a head when PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid, it remains to be seen whether the trophy is enough to keep him in the French capital next season.
After a goalless first half, the game turned on a red card for Lens defender Kevin Danso. Still, it took a stunning strike from Lionel Messi to finally break the deadlock midway through the second half. Corentin Jean equalised for the 10 men, but it still wasn’t enough to deny PSG the title.

The trophy was ultimately clinched with ease, though their latest Ligue 1 victory could not avoid boos and jeers from the Parc des Princes crowd after a less than convincing performance.
PSG have won the title back from Lille by picking up 24 victories in 34 games, while also recording just six draws and four defeats.
With Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar leading the line, the Parisians unsurprisingly have the best attack in the division with 76 goals scored as they’ve stormed 15 points clear of second-placed Marseille.
Pochettino’s men also have the second-best defensive record in the division with 31 goals conceded, two more than Nice.
