Ghana are in Pot 1 ahead of the draw for the qualifiers for the 2023 African Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.

Despite failing to make it past the group stage of the previous tournament, the Black Stars are among the top seeds for AFCON 2023.

Ghana are joined by African champions Senegal, runners-up Egypt, and hosts Ivory Coast, among others.

The seedings were decided based on the latest FIFA rankings.

There are 48 teams in all in the draw, separated into four pots of twelve teams each.

According to CAF, the countries will then be drawn into 12 groups of four, with the team that finishes first and the team that finishes second in each of the groups, aside from the one with the home nation, making it through to the tournament.

In the group where the host is placed, the following scenarios will be applied:

1. If the host is ranked first, the host is qualified in addition to the second of the group.
2. If the host is ranked second, the host will qualify in addition to the first of the group.
3. If the host is ranked third or fourth, the host will qualify in addition to the first of the
group

The qualifiers’ first two matchdays are scheduled for 30 May and 14 June, respectively. On the 19th and 27th of September, match days three and four will take place.
