In a recent interview, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, a veteran Ghanaian singer and composer, called out Shatta Wale for claiming to be the dancehall king while blatantly copying the skill of Jamaican musicians. Gyedu-Blay Ambolley believes it is ludicrous for Shatta Wale to identify to himself as the Dancehall king since he is a copycat, and he believes this is a violation of the First Amendment. He told Abeiku Santana of OKAY FM in an exclusive interview that all of the singers who claim to be monarchs of foreign genres should hang their heads in shame because they do not deserve to be crowned as such. A large number of social media users have given their support behind Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, arguing that if Shatta Wale claims to be the original dancehall monarch, then how do we deal with the likes of Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Alkaline, and others?
